Hard to believe we've published four issues of Poplar Magazine! I am moving fast these days, cold and all (those still exist? lol) trying to finalize our upcoming spring issue! I know, I've totally neglected this page in recent years however, I've made myself a commitment to making this a bigger part of the big picture where everything I am trying to build is concerned. It's a lot and the last few years have been a lot; from family illness. The Boy heading into his teens. Professional growth. Education. I could go on but I think you get where I am going here. I'd like to bring a little more interactivity here and also some emphasis on my photography and how you can purchase it, if that tickles your toes. As Finding Laughter also comes to a more complete place, this will also be a place where I begin to share more of my story. Stay tuned and please give my social pages a follow @lowingmedia, @findinglaughter, @Darkroomdelights and @poplarmagazine.
And hey, I have a sprouting YouTube channel where you can check out a variety of videos my little production company has produced. Watch here!

September 21st.
Boom! Issue three, the fall issue of Poplar has just dropped. I can't begin to tell you how incredible that feels to say. I love this magazine, I love the people who are a part of it and I love how it's bringing everything I've been building, together. I have a good feeling about this because of what it represents. I'll expand on that a little more very soon.
August 2022.
Wow! Yes! OK! Do I sound excited? I should. I hope I do. The magazine is rolling well. We have a growing readership and I couldn't be happier with that. The summer has moved a long well and we're starting to plan the next issue. Fall, I hate to say it but it will be here before we all know it; in that I say, I love September! I often take a week in the early portion of the month to myself. Seems like a patterned tradition of mine that I've participated in over the last decade or so. Please stay tuned and stay close and follow us online today.
The spring was an interesting time for us as a family as to be truthful, we came through a very challenging time as a unit. Without getting too far off the rails here I will just say, take stock of what matters and pour yourself into that. And you people, make sure you capture them in your heart daily, without reservation.
After we go through the challenges mentioned above, I took some time to hit my sacred mountain spot where I go to write. Finding Laughter really took some steps. I found a way to really enter my own story, while laying the blueprint of a cobblestone pathway for me to get from that torrid opening, to the story while maintaining my own sanity....hopefully.
I appreciate that you've checked in, it matters so much to me. Please keep coming by and I will continue to formulate a plan to make this page a little more for the users who pop by.

To say it's been interesting these days would really be an undersell; these past months since my last update have been insane! Ever since, I have been stacked with a variety of challenges and in that, I am proud to share that a very old vision, is a reality today. Poplar Magazine for contemporary Albertans has been a long time coming. Have a look today at poplarmagazine.com, I personally couldn't be more proud. The Lowdown has returned while a handful of diverse and talented humans contributed to the first issue. I am proud of this project and I truly believe you will like what Poplar offers. We've integrated video and intend on bringing more into the fold as we grow. We're small, grassroots and ready to rock and roll. Check out Poplar today, I'd love to hear what you think and please follow us on Facebook and Instagram. Your support is appreciated.

Hi! How've you been these days? I hope you're alright and standing tall through these past few years. I've been working hard on my vision for my career path moving forward; my work is a quintessential piece of what I am trying to build in my life. The projects of Lowing Media are taking shape; Finding Laughter is going well however, as we're forging that ahead, another exciting vision is coming into focus. I will have more to to share in the coming weeks - the cat will be out of the bag by the spring equinox so make sure you're following closely as this project has been another long time coming work that I am excited to share with you all! Stay tuned!
Update: April, 2021.
Hey! Thanks for dropping in! Makes my day when peeps like yourself take a moment to pop over to my site. Well, some cool news on the vodcast front! As mentioned below and throughout this site, lowingmedia.com and all of the socials, I once wrote a weekly on Arts, Culture and People here in Airdrie. When I put that aside last summer, it wasn't long before I began pondering a way to do something similar that involved production. So, as simple as it is...here it is! A quick intro and a Zoom with people from all walks of life! The intention of The Lowdown vodcast is to showcase, once more, the people all around us. I have high hopes for this and can't wait to get talking with anyone and everyone. So, if you have a story to tell, and initiative to share, a business to introduce, then reach out and we can make a time to get it done!
Update 2021.
Over the years things have really evolved here. Back in the day (circa 1999/00) it was all about my stand up and touring schedule on this URL.. From then to now, TONS has come to pass however, ultimately, it's been all about staying true (or at least trying :) ) to stay true to my creative side; for me, it's all about the art of expression. Who are we? Are we ebbing and flowing? Do we even recognize that we're capable? Are we growing? I hope so.
After running in the 2017 election here in Airdrie, I came to an opportunity that I'd long hoped for in years past; I was given the green light to contribute a weekly column to the local Airdrie Echo so for 125 weeks, I did just that. My life as a freelance writer took another step. That election resurrected a deep seeded desire to produce video and get back to my photography. I had always imagined I would go back to my "work" as I refer to it, after I was done raising my incredible son, Mason and retiring from my profession as a machinist. However, life had other ideas and in calm waters from that long dissipated wake of BML Productions, Lowing Media was born. I brought with me a life time of ideas, attempts, passes and fails and ultimately experience. Today, my little boutique media company is producing When We Can, Finding Laughter and of course, my online shop Darkroom Delights! I hope you take a minute to check out the links, follow, like and maybe even share and hopefully shop!
I believe strongly that life is about living your best you. I know, sounds cliché but it's true. As a machinist I've watched a lot of people give their lives to everything but themselves; retirement comes and life has other ideas. I didn't want that for myself and since the foundation of my adult life was forged in the story of Finding Laughter I learned early that living, means now. So, I'll keep this short, there's a lot to take in so please have a look around, click some links, ask some questions and be sure to follow my efforts across social media.
Thanks again for stopping by, it's great to see you again.
